As a whole the water temp has been around 48. Warmer in the backs of the creeks where there is muddier water and cooler in the main lake. Both the Tugaloo and Seneca side has been producing a few Crappies. Most crappie are coming in 15-25 foot of water over brush. I've found that the fish are alittle spread out, but you can catch a handfull of fish off each brushpile in the right area. Small crappie minnows seem to be working the best. As for the Striper and Hybrids, Live bait has been a little slow. Try Pulling Large Gizzard Shad for the Big fish! Umbrella riggs are still working really well. Im finding schools of fish under the birds!

Wow the weather has been great this year for us here in SC. Fishing remains to be pretty good over all. Or Great for the month of Jan. Some days are better then others, but over all for the middle of Jan, I have been impressed! Water temp is still reading 48 degrees. Now the live bait bite has been a little tough, the artificial bite has been good. Just about every day I still see a little surface activity. The fish are keyed in the the small threadfin shad, making it tough to get them to bite our usaual offering(bluebacks) I have had to downsize my livebait and tackle making some exciting battles on light tackle. Some days were lucky to get the fish over what I call clean bottom and our odds to land 6-10 lb striper on 8 lb line is very high. The days that we find the fish over trees makes it tough to pull on the fish without them diving right to the trees. U-riggs are still doing well and I would have to say if a man liked to flyfish for these fish, now can still be the time to try that. Use small streamers for flies 1-2 inches long, no longer and hold on!
Water Temp.56
We have been blessed with great weather for this time of year. Water temps are up from last year this time. Actually fishing has been pretty good. It is still a mixed bag bite. I'm still making my days by catching a little of everything. For someone that just wants to make it on the water in the mid day and fish in the afternoon, this is the time of year to do it. Fish will bite all day long in the winter. Fisherman are having sucess by just pulling freeline blue back and gizzard shad with a handfull of fish every day. I mix it up between how I see the fish are reacting. Water Temp 58:
This report is comming from before the Heavy rain we had yesterday. We recorded 2.5 inches of rain. Matter fact I have to say that the fish are keyed in to the small shad. I have got smart and I'm starting to catch the Shad and have them while I'm fishing. I'm picking up just about everything and making a great catch. The weather has held off for us this year and I would have to say we should have good fishing through Christmas at least! Blake caught an 8lber on 8 lb the other day. It was quite exciting! For up to date reports click on the above fishing report off my tool bar! Water temp: 59 degrees
What a Pretty weekend on the water! Over all I had pretty good fishing. I called it a Shmorgishborg! We caught a little of everything Thursday-Monday. We caught a handful of Stripers, Hybrids, Largmouth, Spotted Bass, Flathead cats, Channels cats, and White Perch. Actually it seemed the only fish that we didn't catch was a Crappie. Sometimes you just have to catch what the fish gods offer and this week it was a little of everything! Fun Part is that I have been able to incorperate a little ultra-light fishing with my regular Striper Tackle. Makes things interesting when you hook that monster on 6 pound test! Nice Job Jacob on the big FlatHead Catfish! Tight lines! For up to date fishing report click the above fishing reports on the tool bar! 7 Pound Striper! Water temp was 61 degrees. The morning was calm and alittle misty which changed to party cloudy and windy in the afternoon. I was able to locate some good striper action yesterday. I did see about a half hour of top water action. I caught a mixed bag of Stripers, Hybrids, Largemouth, White Perch and Blue cats. The wind picked up as the day moved to the afternoon and made fishing a little tough. I found my fish up the rivers in the 30 foot range! Tight lines. I'm off to the lake this afternoon!
Well everyone. I went off for a vacation. Hunting and fishing expo! I archery hunting Ohio all week taking a good 9 point. For the fishing. I went Winter Steehead fishing up in Michigan. This fishing was kinda tough but I was still able to put a handfull on the beach. I'll have some up to date fishing reports here this week.
Water temp: 67
Water: clear with brown tint Air Temp: 40 in the am 70 High Pressure system is over us now: Well I think it is safe to say that last weeks cold snap has made a big change in the fishing. Striper/Hybrids were tricky for me over the weekend. I look for the fish to start to move to shallower water and move up in the water column. It is completely different in the main lake right now than the past 3 weeks. Believe it or not the upper parts of the rivers and shallows have already started to stabilize, from what we consider the ( Fall Turn Over ) There has been a lot of Dark Brown Bubbles, that looks like foam in the water and the water just has a darker tint to in in areas. Now I have had some good Crappie reports from friends continued from my day last Sunday and I did do well on Spotted bass and stumbled on a good Blue Catfish bite over the weekend. Matter of fact I was happy to see the Blue cats... Again I don't focus on Blues that often, in the fall can be a great time to Catch Cats.. It was nice to see the rod bend with a big Catfish when the Stripers are being tricky. The Catfish and Crappie should continue to bite good for the next couple weeks while the rest of the lake complete its "turn over" Water Temp. 70 degrees
Striper and Hybrid are still on the surface here and there. It hasn't been on Fire, but still good. We have just been limited on the days that are good for schooling. We have had some hard weather fronts the last couple weeks with heavy winds. The larger Stripers are still down in the main lake in the deep water, but there are some large schools of Hybrids really showing there selves in the upper part of the lake. Mater of fact I have caught small Hybrids and Stripers all the way up in Clemson this this week. Be ready with a Large Roostertail or Puppy spook for if the fish school on the surface, but look for fish on fish finder in 50-160 foot of water. Most fish are still suspended in the 50-60 ft, but there has been a layer of fish higher in the water colum. Fall turn over is close. As for the Crappie, there Biting! I had Sunday open up and I had an opertunity to Go fun fishing for my self. I love to catch crappie, but don't get to focus on them as often. I looked at 4 Crappie spots from 18-26 foot of water and caught fish in all of them. I didn't smoke them in each spot, but in several areas the were biting good enough to put my 30 fish in the boat in about 3 hours fishing. For updated fishing reports click "Lake Hartwell and Jocassee fishing reports" above on my websites tool bar! Than Windy! We had a Hard 15-25mph NE wind that Started Thurs and is still blowing. A hard Low Presure System made fishing a little tought over the weekend. Not that it was tough to get fish to bight, but it was hard to sit tight when you found an active school of Stripers. I did see fish School every day, but it wasn't for long and it was hard to keep the boat with the fish in the 20 mph winds. When you have this hard of wind, it can make things a little complicated. Water temp is 72, which is a great Temp to find schooling fish. This Weather System put the fish on the move. Down by the Dam was a little to windy and Choppy to focus on, but we were able to find a few schools in the upper third of the lake. We should be able to start to find some fish starting up the rivers soon. Artifical baits worked great when when the fish were on the surface. Baits like the Puppy Spook, pencil Popper, and Rooster tails.
