- Typically Capt. Steve focuses with live bait to catch Striped Bass and Hybrid Bass. A Hybrid is a cross between a male white bass and a female striped bass. Hybrids can grow up to 20 pounds but more commonly are caught in the 2 pound to 4 pound range. A Hybrid is a strong aggressive fighter making them a favorite of Lake Hartwell Fisherman. The larger of the two is the Striped Bass. The South Carolina State Record was caught in 2002 weighing in at over 59 pounds. Most striper caught in Lake Hartwell that are in the 3 pound to 10 pound range, but are routinely caught 15 pounds to 30 pounds. A Preferred bait for both the striper and hybrid are Blueback herring but also eat Shad. A limit of 10 Hybrid and Striped Bass applies on Lake Hartwell
- Stocking! Now Stripers and Hybrids are stock annually. The SCDNR Put around 16 stripers and Hybrids per acre per year. That is almost 900,000 and that is every year! Just with that said, Lake Hartwell is an amazing Fishery!
- Now Lake Hartwell is Full of more than just Stripers and Hybrids. The lake has a sustainable population of Largemouth Bass, Red eye Bass, Both Black and White Crappie, White Perch, Flat Head Catfish, Blue Cats and a tun of Channel Cat fish. In the spring with all the fish shallow, an angler never knows what he might reel up next! Like I said. Lake Hartwell is an unbelievable fishery worth bring your family, friends, or Business clients out for a day spent on the water.
Fishski Business LLC Guide Service is Captained by USCG Licensed Capt. Steve Pietrykowski. Stripers can be caught year round on Lake Hartwell.
