I've Got My Baby Back! Gosh was it nice to be on my own rig! I got my boat back. Thanks to Harbor Lights Marina for taking care of me! The Boat sounds good and is running great. Back to the fishing, Lake Hartwell is fishing great right now. Water temp: 76 water is clear.. In my eyes, it is hard to beet the month of OCT. The weather is cooler, the fish are usually larger and You have a chance to have the whole lake to yourself! Saturday was one of the windiest days that I have ever fished on Lake Hartwell and had to fish in the main lake. Usually on a windy day you can tuck away in a cove on the leeward side to stay out of the wind. Saturday we fished the main lake and the wind was out of the north at 15-25 with at times 30 mph gusts. Thank God for Anchors. We had a great Day regardless of the wind. Fish were biting and Company was great. I would say we have a good 3 weeks of fishing before the fall turnover. Guys..... Come and get it
Fishing is Hot! The fishing has been great all week. The Stripers and Hybrids have been Schooling on the Surface. The bad news is that I lost my Lower unit on my Boat, but the Good news is my Buddys have lent me there boats to say in the Action! Water temp is around 78. The overcast days have been the best schooling action. Look for birds dipping on the water or big areas of splashes! :) Puppy Zara Spooks have worked the best for me, but a fluke will also work. Once the fish go down, I am finding them around 50-60 feet down and catching them on downrods.
Water temp is 86-87 Weather has been stable. I've been able to locate some good schools of Stripers last week. Over all it is good fishing. I didn't do big numbers of Stripers last week, but the ones we did catch are very quality fish. 7-10 pounds was the average striper last week. Matter of fact between Thurs and Friday alone, I got broke off 8 times. I might not Brake 8 fish off the Whole month certain times of the year! The 8 fish that broke off were just grown fish, and they were living near a forest on the water. Most of the fish I have been finding are in depths of 55-106 feet. It sounds like a big range and it is. The fun part is that not every day have the fish been in the same area. They have been on the move a little bit..... Here are few photos from last week! The first one was of today.... It was very good fishing today! I look for that to continue
This first picture is when I first found the fish. As you can see they were bunched up when I first found them. As the picture of the fish finder moved from right to left you can see that the school of fish moved to the bottom then when I stopped the boat that fish began to come up off the bottom and look up. This is an example to what I call movement.
This is the picture that every Striper fisherman wants to see under the boat. This is what I say Spaghetti Noodles!
When I got done fishing that school of fish I drove for 200 yards and this is what was on my screen. This is what you can say a Mega School!
I just wanted to Share what a Mega School of Stripers looks like. Now I found these fish in 64 foot of water on what I call Clean bottom. Boy do you get a good feeling when you find a school like this!
